Red Flag Warning issued November 15 at 3:08AM HST until November 15 at 6:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI ...RED FLAG WARNING FOR LEEWARD AREAS OF ALL ISLANDS TODAY... .The combination of dry fuels, low relative humidity and strong trade winds will bring critical fire weather conditions for leeward sections of the state today. * AFFECTED AREA...Leeward portions of all Hawaiian Islands. * TIMING...From 10 AM this morning to 6 PM HST this evening. * WINDS...East 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 40 to 45 percent. * IMPACTS...A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and dry fuels can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. A Red Flag Warning does not predict new fire starts. Outdoor burning is not recommended. Heat from vehicle exhaust systems can ignite dry grass. Park cars on areas that are paved or where vegetation is trimmed and cleared. High winds contribute to wildfire hazard. Delay activities that could throw off sparks until the wind dies down. Wind Advisory issued November 15 at 3:03AM HST until November 17 at 6:00AM HST by NWS Honolulu HI * WHAT...East winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * WHERE...Portions of Kahoolawe, Lanai, Maui, Molokai, and the Big Island Hawaii. Winds will be strongest over ridges, through passes and near higher terrain. * WHEN...Until 6 AM HST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Winds this strong can tear off shingles, knock down tree branches, blow away tents and awnings and make it difficult to steer, especially for drivers of high profile vehicles. Watch out for falling tree branches when walking or driving. Make sure tents and awnings are secure or take them down. Be prepared for power outages.
