Flood Warning issued June 23 at 11:08AM CDT until June 24 at 6:00PM CDT by NWS North Platte NE * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of north central Nebraska, including the following county, Holt. * WHEN...Until 600 PM CDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of the Elkhorn River, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1107 AM CDT, Gauge reports indicate river flooding is occurring along the Elkhorn River from upstream of Atkinson to downstream of O'Neill. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... O'Neill, Atkinson and Emmet. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Heat Advisory issued June 24 at 2:52AM CDT until June 24 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS North Platte NE * WHAT...Heat index values up to 105 expected. * WHERE...Portions of north central and southwest Nebraska. * WHEN...From 1 PM CDT /noon MDT/ to 8 PM CDT /7 PM MDT/ Monday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates.
