Heat Advisory issued June 26 at 1:36AM CDT until June 26 at 6:00PM CDT by NWS Tallahassee FL * WHAT...Heat index values up to 110 expected. * WHERE...Portions of Big Bend and Panhandle Florida and south central Georgia. * WHEN...From 11 AM CDT /noon EDT/ this morning to 6 PM CDT /7 PM EDT/ this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sunshine, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Rip Current Statement issued June 25 at 8:33PM EDT until June 26 at 6:00AM EDT by NWS Tallahassee FL * WHAT...Dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...Walton, Gulf, and Franklin County Beaches. * WHEN...Until 6 AM EDT /5 AM CDT/ Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...While the weather is nice for beachgoers, dangerous rip currents lurk just below the surface, despite surf of only around 2 feet. Beachgoers should take note of all beach flags and follow the orders of beach safety officials. Double Red Flags mean the water is closed to the public, but the beach remains open. Do not enter the water under Double Red Flags. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
