Flood Warning issued September 26 at 8:58PM EDT until September 27 at 8:45PM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of southwest Virginia, including the following counties, Bland, Giles and Tazewell and southeast West Virginia, including the following county, Mercer. * WHEN...Until 845 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 856 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated bands of moderate to heavy rain passing over the warned area. Flooding is ongoing in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen since early this morning. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area as rainfall intensifies overnight as the storm approaches. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Bluefield, Bland, Princeton, Tazewell, Athens and Matoaka. - For flooding safety information, please visit http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows.
